Urban Decay Perversion mascara and Subversion Primer ...

Hey Guys :)

Today I have a  review on the new Perversion mascara and Subversion lash primer from Urban Decay. I'm a huge fan of Urban Decay's Super Curl Curling mascara and have been waiting for their new mascara Perversion to be released, so you can imagine how excited I was the other day when I saw it was finally released, and not only that but they had released a lash primer to go along with it. You can buy Perversion for £17 and it comes with a mini ( but still very generous ) tube of the Subversion primer, the primer can be bought alone and full size for £15, I picked mine up from Debenhams but they are also available on feelunique.com.

If you know Urban Decay you will more then likely know all about their other Perversion products, it first started with there Perversion 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, which is the only pencil eyeliner that I swear by, it is honestly the blackest liner ever, they then brought out a whole Perversion line of eyeliners including liquid liners, a felt tip liner and a gel liner again all the blackest I have seen. And finally they have brought out Perversion mascara for "Bigger, Blacker, Badder" lashes.

Urban Decay describe Perversion mascara as being an ultra-creamy, lengthening and volumizing mascara. They describe its formula as being not to wet yet not to dry and the colour is the deepest darkest black you can find. It claims to never get clumpy, dry or brittle. Now for the sciencey bit, the formula is enriched with amino acids and proteins which are known to stimulate lash growth, it also contains honey extract for nourishment and marine collagen to protect the lashes. So this is supposed to give you the most amazing biggest blackest lashes and look after them too, this is begging to sound like a girls best friend.

Now for Subversion, Urban Decay describe this as creamy, whipped formula which conditions and primes the lashes, it's said to add weight to your lashes so that Perversion has something more to grip onto creating bigger, fuller and thicker lashes in minuets, add layers of this Vitamin E enriched primer to lashes before your mascara to build up lashes that will have people asking you if you are wearing false lashes all day long.

So you have a bit of background on these two products lets move onto the review:

Here are my lashes, completely product free and naked for everyone to see. As you can see they are not the most amazing lashes ever, and are actually pretty fair towards the ends making them look a lot shorter then they are without product on, they are also not in the best condition right now, I do wear a lot of false lashes and I hold my hands up I'm not always the most gentle when it comes to removing them and unfortunately have lost a few lashes along the way.

First up I tried the Perversion mascara completely alone, I have to say I was pretty impressed with just how black this mascara actually was and how must longer it made my lashes look especially my lower lashes,  I don't think they have ever looked this long without applying about 4 different mascaras and spending about 5 minuets fiddling around with them. I have to say alone I do like this mascara and it would be great for everyday when you just want your eyes to have a little bit more definition. However I do wish it was a little bit more thickening on it's own.

Now for the exciting part, time for Subversion, I found with this product a little really does go along way, make sure there isn't too much product on the wand, I found I got a much better result when I layered this on slowly and a little bit at a time. Don't be alarmed by the white lash look Perversion mascara will defiantly sort that out in the next step.

And here is the grand finale Perversion layered over Subversion and believe it or not this is one coat, I had to stop myself getting carried away, I'm a girl who likes a lot of mascara but for this review I wanted to show you how it works with just one coat, and well I have to say I am very very impressed, my lashes looked so long and a lot thicket then usual and can we just take a moment to appreciate just how black they actually are. If this mascara does all this and is true to all the nourishing, growth stimulating and protecting claims, then this mascara will defiantly be becoming a Permanent member of my makeup collection.

Natural but glamorous eyes ...

Hey Guys :)

Today's eye look, is using all very natural neutral colours yet this look is still slightly glamorous, it can be used with out the lashes in the day (or with lashes in the day time if your like me) and can easily be transformed into a night look by adding some fake lashes and a bolder lip colour.

For this look I used my Maybeline fit me foundation, and covered up any imperfections with my benefit concealer, I also lightly contoured my cheek bones and added a bronze highlight to the cheek bones.

As usual I primed my eyes using urban decays primer potion, I then took this very nude eye shadow which is probably only a shade or so darker then my skin colour, I took this on a fluffy brush and blended it onto my crease and up towards the brow bone, this is the transition colour so don't worry about this being neat.

Next I took naked from the original Naked palette from Urban Decay, and blended this into the out edge of the crease and the out part of the eyelid. There shouldn't look like there is a lot on the eye so far.

I took a smaller brush and took the colour Buck from the same palette and used this to darken up the crease and out V of the eye

I then took a very shimmery champagne colour from my Sleek Au natural palette, which is actually looking a lot darker then it actually is the picture below, you want to pack this colour onto the lid where you haven't put any of the brown colours so far. Then taking a small pencil brush take the colour Buck again and blend this into the lower lash line and highlight the inner corner with that same champagne colour, I also lined my water line with a nude eye liner this opens up the eye like a white eyeliner but looks more natural.

Again I'm using another pair of lashes by Millie Mackintosh, these ones are the Shoreditch lashes, which are very long and whispy and work really well with these kinds of looks, if you didn't want to add lashes this look also looks just as good with a couple of coats of mascara.

Lastly fill in those brows and don't forget to highlight underneath them this really opens up the eye area and makes the look complete.

And that is the look complete, because this is a very neutral eye pretty much any lip colour works with this look, but seen as we are coming into spring I really love this look with a coral lip colour. But for the evening this look is stunning with a dark red lip.

Smokey eye using Urban Decay Naked 2 ...

Hey Guys :)

So firstly it's been a long time since I've done anything on my blog, but I have been busy with my third year at university, but things are becoming  a lot less busy and stressful, so I can start spending more time playing around with makeup again.

I noticed that one thing I have never done on this blog is a dark smokey eye using blacks and silvers, I usually stick to warmer colours like browns and golds, but I know this kind of smokey eye is very popular especially for nights out, the eye shadows I used all came from the Naked 2 palette.

First I primed my eyes with urban decay primer potion, it is so important when using dark colours like these to prime the eye, it keeps everything in  place and stops everything smudging all over your face. Then on a fluffy brush I took the colour tease and blended it onto my crease, this doesn't have to be really neat because most of it will be covered up by darker colour later on, this is the transition colour and it just helps the dark colours blend better.

Next I packed on the colour pistol all over my lid, but it didn't look bold enough for this look so I dampened my brush did this again, and this time the colour came out much more pigmented and the shimmer in the colour really stood out.

Then I took a very small amount of black out, this is very pigmented so I barely touched the shadow as I wanted to the build up the black rather then going straight in with it super dark, now this part can take you a while but be patient, build up the black slowly onto the outer part of the crease and lid, take a small amount of black and blend it, then add more, take it slow.

You can leave the colours like this if you wanted a softer eye, but I went on to take a smaller brush and more of black out and darken up the outer v of my eye, at this point I also started to extend the colour further out into more of a winged shape ( don't worry if it isn't perfect just yet) , again build the colour up slowly it's easy to add more colour but hard to take it away.

Then take a makeup wipe and clean up the edge of your wing that you created making it really sharp and clean, after this step I used my urban decay pencil eyeliner in perversion to line my water line, I also cleaned up under my eyes, and put on my concealer and foundation, set it all with powder and filled in my brows before finishing off the eyes.

I then took a small pencil brush and mixed together foxy and booty call and highlighted under my brows.

I then used a small brush and the colour verve and blended this into my lower lash line, by using a light shimmery colour I feel it stops the eyes looking too heavy, but if you wanted to make this look even darker you could use black out smudged into the lower lashes to really smoke out the look and make it really dramatic.

Now for lashes, these Mille Mackintosh lashes have replaced my nearly all of my other fake lashes now, they are amazing and so light weight I even forget I am wearing them most of the time, the ones I used for this look are one of her most dramatic lashes and these are the soho lashes, when using fake lases don't forget to blend your natural lashes with the false ones using some mascara and cover up any clear glue you can see with some black eye shadow. I also added a generous amount of mascara to my bottom lashes using my new favourite mascara, which is the supercurl curling mascara from urban decay.

And that is look finished, it isn't a really hard smokey eye but the blending may take time and practise just remember to go slow and build up the colour, rather then going straight in with a load of black. Another thing to remember is when doing heavy dark eye looks like this you need to make sure you skin looks flawless and there is no redness or blemishes showing through, to do this I used my old favourite the collection 2000 concealer and then my chanel perfection lumiere. I also kept the lips very nude for this look so not to draw attention away from the eyes.
